On August 30th, Williamsburg Field Musick Fifes & Drums played for the coin toss at the inaugural CAA football game between William & Mary and the University of Delaware. The game was held at Zable Stadium on the campus of W&M. This was the first night game of the 2007 football season and the first game played on the new artificial turf field.

Lance in Edinburgh
Lance, partner of Williamsburg Field Musick, had an opportunity to travel to the Edinburgh Military Tattoo to perform with the Middlesex County Volunteers Fifes & Drums. The tattoo is presented every year in Edinburgh Scotland since 1950. Only a handful of American groups have appeared at this most prestigious international tattoo during its fifty-seven year history, and never has there been a fife and drum ensemble.

Sail Virginia Norfolk, Virginia
We had a wonderful opportunity to perform for 3 days during Sail Virginia held in Norfolk, Virginia in June 2007. Tall ships, crafts, and great entertainment were enjoyed by the large crowds that turned out to enjoy the wonderful weather. Here is a picture of Williamsburg Field Musick performing along the waterfront with many tall ships in the background.

Filming for HBO John Adams Miniseries
What a wonderful experience. We were asked to provide fife and drum talent during the filming of the upcoming HBO John Adams Miniseries. We participated during the filming of the scene when John Adams leaves Boston for Philadelphia (See photo) and the Boston Tea Party scene. These were long days, but very interesting. The miniseries will air in 2008, so keep an eye out for us. We hope to avoid the cutting room floor.

Exciting Performance
For the third year in a row, we were asked to play the National Anthem for the 2007 CAA Men's Championship Basketball Game held in the Richmond Coliseum. This year, Virginia Commonwealth University played George Mason University for the privilege to play in the NCAA Tournament. VCU won and went on to beat Duke in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. We played in front of our largest audience ever. It was a sell out with over 9,000 spectators. It was a real thrill!
Interesting Performances
We performed during the 2007 Democratic Caucus held this year at the Kingsmill Conference Center and Resort in Williamsburg, Virginia. Last year, Bono was the speaker. This year the speaker was former President Bill Clinton. On his way to the podium, he stopped to wish us well. A photographer traveling with him captured the greeting in this photo.
